Graves Gilbert Clinic To End Participation In Humana Insurance Plans February 2026
Termination impacts Humana Medicaid and Medicare Advantage members regionwide
BOWLING GREEN, KY — (October 17, 2025) Beginning February 1, 2026, Graves Gilbert Clinic (GGC) and its parent organization, GGC Health, will no longer participate in Humana insurance programs, including Humana Medicaid and Medicare Advantage plans.
The decision follows months of negotiations and good-faith efforts to resolve contract and policy concerns that GGC leaders say have hindered patient access to care and created unnecessary administrative barriers.
“It is unfortunate that we are at this stage with Humana,” said Micheal D’Eramo, CEO of GGC Health. “We have made every effort to find common ground, but Humana has remained unresponsive to our needs and, more importantly, to the needs of patients and families in Southcentral Kentucky.”
Patients with Humana Medicaid or Medicare Advantage plans can continue to see their current GGC providers through January 31, 2026, while both organizations work through the transition period.
As the largest provider of outpatient services for Medicaid and Medicare patients in Southcentral Kentucky, GGC Health serves tens of thousands of residents who rely on government-supported insurance programs. More than two-thirds of GGC’s patients are covered by Medicaid or Medicare plans.
“Humana has been a poor partner,” said Samer Kalakish, MD, Chairman of GGC Health. “They continue to expect Graves Gilbert to support a growing Medicaid and Medicare Advantage population by creating policies that make it harder to care for patients.”
“Improving access to top-quality health care for patients in Kentucky has been one of the great callings in my life. State-contracted health insurers should not be putting corporate profits before the health of our patients. This current model is not working for our taxpayers,” said Sen. Stephen Meredith (R-Leitchfield), Chair of the Senate Health Services Committee.
GGC leaders emphasize that the organization remains committed to helping patients understand their options and continue receiving uninterrupted care throughout the transition.
