  • There have been 3,300 tests conducted in the state of KY with 198 positive results.
  • Bowling Green Independent School District will still deliver meals to students next week during their spring break (3/30-4/3).

  • Increased Law Enforcement rounds/visibility has started on hospital campuses.

  • Starting Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at 8 am, Medical Center Urgentcare will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
    until further notice.
  • Med Center Health has increased their critical care bed capacity by designating their D Tower to specifically care for
    COVID-19 patients.

  • American Red Cross is hosting a community blood drive on Friday, March 27 from 1 pm to 5 pm at the Medical Center-WKU Health Science Complex.
  • Local testing is based on CDC guidelines.

  • Warren County Emergency Management is working with officials in Frankfort to explore the future establishment of a community testing site.

We at the City of Bowling Green are working hard to continue our day to day operations and to provide daily information related to the Coronavirus through our work with the #BGWCCoronavirusWorkgroup.

Please note that information regarding the Coronavirus, positive cases, and local businesses or agencies are changing minute by minute. We will work hard to update with new information as soon as we have independently confirmed it. We are working to be as transparent as possible. Please read comments and updates to our posts. We will change our numbers and information as necessary.

We will not be distributing the names of any person who tests positive for the Coronavirus. The Barren River Health Department is working diligently to contact anyone who has had contact with those who test positive.

Please have patience with us and the other agencies in the #BGWCCoronavirusWorkgroup during this unique time in our lives. We’re all in this together.

FACTS

  • To date, we have one (1) positive case of COVID-19 in Warren County.
  • The Barren River District Health Department is currently working with the Kentucky Department of Public Health in order to conduct a case investigation to determine people who may have been in contact with the COVID-19 positive patient. These individuals will be contacted by the health department.

  • Dial 2-1-1 if you have a health/human resource need associated with COVID-19; a trained call specialist will direct you to available services in our community.
  • Bowling Green Independent School District and Warren County Public School offices will be closed to the public immediately.
  • Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital has suspended most all visitations to their facility.
  • Med Center Health Urgentcare, located at 291 New Towne Drive, is set up with a process to test for COVID-19 as recommended by a physician.

FACTS

  • To date, all patients screened and tested locally for COVID-19 are negative

  • Effective tomorrow, March 19, the City of Bowling Green will remain open via email and phone communications but will close to the public.
  • Visit the Community Education website at https://www.commed.us/ for information relating to childcare for k-8 for health care employees.
  • Effective tomorrow, March 19, Warren County Government, while staffed and open for service via email and phone communication, public access to all office buildings, including the Courthouse, will be accessible only to County staff.
  • All outpatient services at Rivendell Behavioral Health are being conducted via telehealth services.
  • Emergency room visits for those seeking COVID-19 testing should be limited to people sick enough to require emergency care, unless you have been evaluated and referred by your healthcare provider for COVID-19 testing.

  • All daycare facilities will close by Friday, March 20.
  • Effective tomorrow, March 18, both Greenview Regional Hospital & Med Center Health will limit visitors to their hospitals.
  • Warren County Government and the City of Bowling Green signed a joint Declaration of a Local State of Emergency on Monday, March 16.
  • The Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitors Bureau lobby is closed to the public but employees can still be reached by phone at 270-782-0800 or by email at [email protected].
  • Warren County Government will be closed to the public effective immediately. If you require face to face services you can make an appointment by calling the department directly.
  • Southern Kentucky Community Technical College is closing all in-person campus activities effective today. Minimal computer lab services will be open by appointment only.

  • As each of us is aware, local restaurants and bar will close today at 5:00 PM. Some will offer curb service/drive through.
  • Today, Bowling Green Independent School District and Warren County Schools started delivery of breakfast and lunch to students in need. Please refer to the school website for more information.

  • The Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has closed to the public until further notice. They still remain open for phone calls and email.
  • Effective Tuesday, March 17, Parks & Recreation Fitness Facility will be closed until further notice. Staff will still be present at FO Moxley Center, located at 225 East Third Ave in order to respond to phone calls and email, but the building will be closed to the public.

  • As each of us is aware public schools have now been cancelled; please avoid crowds and practice social distancing. Use social media to connect with family and friends.
  • Local performing arts centers, SKYPAC and Capital Arts have canceled performances until April 10.
  • Visitation continues to be limited in all long-term care facilities in accordance with Governor Beshear’s announcement.
  • Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College will cancel classes March 16 and 17. Courses will resume online classes (distance education) March 18 – April 5th.

  • We encourage our community to continue to practice social distancing and please stay at home if you are sick. Additionally, it is wise to avoid visiting those who are ill unless absolutely necessary, whether at home or in any healthcare facility.

FACTS

  • Local hospitals request that community members voluntarily restrict visitation to admitted patients. Those who do not feel well, have fever or are coughing should not visit.
  • Warren County Regional Jail is launching video visitation/inmate kiosk system in partnership with Securus on Thursday, March 19
  • WKU student spring break extended through Sunday, March 22nd. Beginning Monday, March 23rd, WKU will transition face-to-face classroom delivery to an alternative delivery format through Sunday, April 5

Bowling Green, KY – On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, multiple agencies met and formed the Coronavirus Workgroup in order to inform citizens and potentially make county-wide decisions regarding the Coronavirus.

This group includes members from

  • The City of Bowling Green
  • Warren County Government
  • Med Center Health
  • Greenview Regional Hospital
  • Graves Gilbert Clinic
  • Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Dr. Rebecca Shadowen, MD; Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine Specialist
  • Western Kentucky University
  • Southern Kentucky Community Technical College
  • Warren County School District
  • Bowling Green Independent School District
  • Warren County Emergency Management

This Workgroup will communicate daily to discuss information relating to the Coronavirus. It is the goal of the Workgroup to disseminate information to the public each afternoon via https://www.facebook.com/citybgky/, https://twitter.com/CityofBGKY and https://www.instagram.com/cityofbgky/. The information posted daily will serve as direct communication to both the media and to the public.
