Dr. Backenson joined the Graves Gilbert Clinic in July 2022 upon his retirement from the United States Army after 21 years of service as an active duty physician. He is a veteran of multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with awards including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal. He has been board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine since 2004 and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology since 2006. He is married with two young sons and enjoys golf, basketball and coaching youth sports. Dr. Backenson takes a common sense approach to the practice of allergy/immunology and provides a full scope of services to patients of all ages.
